CARDINAL VIDAL’S ANTAGONISTIC ATTITUDE AGAINST JUN LOZADA
First, Cardinal Vidal prohibit the priest in his diocese to join in a signature campaign by the Dilaab Foundation in search for truth. Second, after a concelebrated mass, Cardinal Vidal said Lozada is no hero. “Why do we have to make him a hero?” he said in an interview with reporters. Third, the priest who is supposed to celebrate a mass for truth for Jun Lozada in Cebu today backed out. According to Sr. Estrella Castalone, executive secretary of the Association of Major Religious Superiors (AMRSP), “the priest has received orders not to celebrate the Mass, so we had to resort to an interfaith prayer.” Now who ordered the priest to back out? Who is the highest Catholic Church official in the Archdiocese of Cebu where the buck would stop?
In contrast, Cardinal Vidal allowed Presidential Management Staff Chief Cerge Remonde to attend the recollection of the priest in his diocese. He even allowed Cerge to discuss the NBN/ZTE controversy during the recollection and distribute a primer on the issue. Recently, Cardinal Vidal was reported to have met with the First Couple in Wack Wack early this month although he explain the meeting, “It just so happened that I was there. The house (I stayed in) is overlooking Wack-Wack. There’s a balcony there. While waiting for a (fellow archbishop) to join me for a mass, I was there (on the balcony). From afar, I could be seen easily but I did not notice them (the First Couple). Beyond the fence, there is a road and it seems that she (Arroyo) saw me but I didn’t see her.”
I am not convinced with his explanation. This and more led me to conclude and erased my doubts that Cardinal Vidal do not like Jun Lozada.

it depends of course on which fence you are sitting Bishop Bacani for example got an accolade from Erap and the opposition because he exhibited anti government stance. Bishop Lagdameo on the other hand is supportive for GMA. So goes with other religious aggrupations the likes of Velarde is pro while Villanueva is anti. the scenario presented to all of us is not a good indication because we are divided and Lincoln once said a House divided cannot endure to stand.
Cardinal vidal is a different case. He crossed the line. He is acting more like a Congressman of GMA because of his unabashed partisanship.
Let’s just say Cardina Vidal doesn’t like Lozada. (And I admire Cardinal for his wisdom.) Does that mean the church would lie just because of that? They have categorically denied Lozada’s unfounded accusation (I should stop using “unfounded” in a sentence mentioning Lozada — it’s becoming redundant!). So, I guess the Filipino people has to decide who has the moral grounds in this case — Lozada or the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of Cebu.
This would be an easy choice. Who would believe the Council when THE Lozada has spoken already?
what unabashed partisanship are u talking about??
you must be kidding? you could throw this accusation on priests who are openly stating their political/partisanship views.. Cardinal Vidal is the least political/partisan person of the lot..in fact I am no catholic but i admire the way he has steered clear of partisanship and rather concentrated on his flock..
eh buhay pa naman siya
seriously, it was lozada and navarro who said antagonistic remarks not just to Cardinal Vidal but also to the Cebuanos…
) hahahahah..:) alam mo St. Jun your 15 minutes of fame is almost up.. what goes up comes down..bigla ka naging celebrity so saan and how fast kaya ang bagsak mo? when you no longer serve your purpose to these politicians eh sorry na lang kasi no one will believe you na ..no matter how many buckets of tears you will shed–creepy!!!:)
huwag nga tayong mag bulag bulagan.. think! and dont just repeat what you hear from groups who are partisan, mga groups na may vested interest dito.. basta kami dito sa cebu we listen and we decide for ourselves.. and Cardinal Vidal is right naman eh. Lozada is not a hero.. hehehe. di ba heroes natin dito usually patay na??
and we really appreciate the name calling we are getting from you and the rest kasi its very clear to us now who are really the “bigots” , who are telling half truths and who are those who can not accept the truth na linangaw kayo dito!
it’s fine if St Jun won’t apologize.. “May God forgive him for he doesnt know what he is doing” kasi nga lumaki na ulo cant see beyond that na!
if lozada wont apologize ako na lang.. in behalf of most cebuanos wbo didnt attend, who didnt act like fanatics, who didnt go screaming and nag pa sign ng autograph again we would like to apologize to Mr Lozada and the Black and White movement na linangaw kayo dito.. sorry talaga ha?
hanggang sa susunod..dala kayo ng fly swatter ha?
As it turned out Cardinal Vidal never issued instructions prohibiting priests in Cebu to hold mass for Lozada. This is just another one of Lozada’s false accusations with no proof whatsoever. I am no Gloria fan but I can see the guy for what he is – a deceiver and fabulist!
And to balatucan, FYI I’m not from Cebu. June Lozada opened the eyes of Filipinos, alright. He opened our eyes to how rude and bastos he is.
(Lozada as rude and bastos? Baseless!)
