NORTHERN MINDANAO BATTERED BY RAINS, STRONG WINDS
Its all over the place. Flashfloods here, tides surge there, and still strong winds all over Northern Mindanao which resulted to the cancellation of airline flights to Mindanao.
Because the reports of destruction is so overwhelming, i will just jot down the toll that Northern Mindanao is experiencing.

32 barangays in cagayan de Oro are submerged affecting 4,832 families or 24,160 people. Affected Barangays are 13, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, 34, 35, 36, Puntod, macasandig, Camaman-an, Nazareth, carmen, San Simon, Pagatpat, Iponan, Canitoan, Bonbon, bayabas, Bulua, Kauswagan, Bugo, consolacion, Lapasan, Gusa, Tablon, Pigsag-an, Taglimao and Pagalungan.

The flashfloods also hit six villages in Gingoog city, five in Alubijid, four in Lagonglong, two in medina and one in Opol.

Establishments in C.M. Recto Ave. also closed shop due to muds left by the floodwaters.

Opol Mayor Dixon Yasay said hundreds of hectares of farmlands were destroyed and damaged because of the flashfloods. A bridge in Opol town linking the city of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan was rendered iimpassable when rampaging waters damaged its footwalls and approach. As of this writing however, the bridge has become passable.

Infrastructure damage is also reported in Balingasag, Lagonglong, Medina, Alubijid, Opol, Naawan manticao, tagoloan, Sugbongcogon, initao, Jasaan, Talisayan, Villanueva and Salay. Dikes in Napaliran and Lingangaw in Balingasag and a bridge in the Medina old road was destroyed. Mudslides were also reported in Punta Gorda, Balingasag and in Naawan.

As of this writing, Ferry boats in Balingoan-Camiguin route were grounded since Sunday temporarily isolating Camiguin from the rest of Mindanao.

A motor banca named MB San Jose capsized near Hikdop Island and Barangay Zaragoza in Surigao City. Fortunately, only 6 were on board and four were rescued and the other two were able to swam ashore in Zaragoza Island. Also, the benches along the city boulevard were shattered and the pavement were damaged as the high tide was accompanied with strong waves which relentlessly battered it.

i dont understand this weather. There is no storm, typhoon or even a low pressure area but the effects were much worse. Rains are pouring continuously without let up with winds comparable to like during a storm. I think Northern Mindanao will have to suffer this for quite sometime so i guess people should brace themselves for more bad weather.
